Terms of Service

Last updated 27 August 2026.

These terms govern use of Catchline, an AI receptionist service operated by Mac Digital (sole proprietorship of Seann MacDougall), Whitby, Ontario, Canada. By subscribing you agree to them.

What the service does

Catchline answers telephone calls on your behalf, principally the ones you miss. It identifies itself as an AI, collects details about the caller and the work they need, may book an appointment into a calendar you have connected, and sends you a summary. It can also receive photographs by text message.

Your responsibilities

  • Give accurate information about your business, services, hours, and pricing rules. The receptionist repeats what you configure.
  • Use the service only for lawful purposes and only for a business you own or are authorised to represent.
  • Keep your account credentials secure, and tell us promptly if they are compromised.
  • Comply with the telecommunications and privacy law that applies to your calls, including any obligation to give notice of recording.

What we do not promise

Catchline is software, and it will sometimes be wrong. It may mishear a caller, misjudge urgency, book at an inconvenient time, or fail to answer during an outage at us or at one of our providers. It is an assistant, not a guarantee that no opportunity is missed. You remain responsible for your customer relationships and for reviewing what it captures.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

Emergencies

Catchline is not an emergency service and must not be presented to callers as one. It cannot contact emergency services on a caller's behalf.

Recording

Where you enable call recording, the receptionist discloses it at the start of every call. Do not disable that disclosure, and do not use the service in a way that would record a person without the notice the law in their jurisdiction requires.

Fees

Subscription fees, any trial period, and usage-based charges are those shown at signup. Fees are billed in advance through Stripe and are not refundable for a period already begun, except where the law requires otherwise. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change takes effect.

Cancelling

You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. We may suspend or end the service for non-payment, for unlawful use, or for conduct that puts the platform or other subscribers at risk. On termination we will make your call records available for export for 30 days, then delete them on the retention schedule in the privacy policy.

Your data

You keep ownership of your business information and of the call records generated for your account. You grant us the licence needed to operate the service on your behalf. How that information is handled is set out in the privacy policy.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email at least 30 days before they take effect; continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept them.
